Bio:
Nicola Pauling has over 20 years experience developing people and communities through participatory performance, adaptive improvisation and crucial conversations. She is the founder and Artistic Director of the charitable trust, Voice Arts, based in Wellington Aotearoa/New Zealand. She has led the development and delivery of community engagement projects across the artistic mediums of theatre, film and radio and in partnership with government, local councils, private enterprise and other NFP community organisations. Voice Arts facilitates ongoing performance based development programmes with social housing tenants, the over 70’s and new migrants and refugees.
Nicola is herself an actor, improvisor and director. She is co-founder of ‘Best on Tap’ and improv troupe renowned for truth based performances that go beyond the gag. She has also researched, written and performed an acclaimed one woman show: “She Danced on a Friday.”
Nicola is a graduate of the 2017/18 ESI International Class. She mentors up and coming community theatre practitioners, providing opportunities for them to work in closed and open community settings. She is passionate about providing opportunities for people to participate in a creative process that gives voice to those who aren’t heard, transforms lives and champions wellbeing and social justice
