Therapy sessions are over for the day. We spent the day immersed in the lives of others as resources for their social and emotional growth. Now it’s time to unwind, and the two of us relax and share our thoughts about our work. What have we learned? What challenges have our clients posed? How are our therapeutic relationships going? What are we learning about life and the pursuit of happiness in today’s troubled world? What tools are we creating together with our clients to support their emotional growth? Welcome to our public dialogue as we talk shop and talk therapy.

Ann Green

Ann Green, PMHNP, is a psychiatric nurse practitioner and social therapist in private practice in NYC. As director of the Institute’s professional outreach, she organizes among mental health professionals and “consumers” of the mental health system who are seeking humane and radical alternatives to the psychiatric establishment. Ann received her Master’s degree from Hunter College.

Hugh Polk

Hugh Polk, MD, is a Harvard and Case Western University-trained psychiatrist and social therapist who has decades of experience bringing the radically humanistic social therapeutic approach to community mental health centers, inpatient psychiatric units and college counseling centers throughout New York City. He currently leads social therapy groups and supervises clinicians in his practice in lower Manhattan.
