Associates & alumni Nomsa Mazwai, Betsy Pendry, Alison Polley-Green, Annalie Pistorius, Alex Sutherland, and Africa Voices’ Robyn Whittaker PULLED OUT ALL THE STOPS to bring ESI’s Christine Helm & Carrie Lobman to venues across Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town. Their whirlwind itinerary included Youth Day events in Soweto, commemorating the uprising and tragic killing of hundreds of students, June 16, 1976; workshops and presentations at Witwatersrand University Drama for Life Program; the Cissy Gool House (a self-organized community); a community workshop with  LGBTQ people performing improv exercises in Zulu + English; an informal gathering at the home of Africa Voice’s co-founder, Robyn Whittaker, bringing together NGO leaders and grassroots community organizers; and a visit to Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University clinical psychology department. Everywhere: creating environments for growth and fostering grassroots globalization.
